Maota Fa'afouina Residential House
The Maota Fa'afouina Residential House is located in the district of
Aranui, Christchurch.
It is a half-way house for clients who have completed intensive
treatment at alcohol and drug facilities.
Often clients who have been referred to these facilities for intensive
treatment, are ill-equipped to look after themselves and have been
living on the street.
At the Maota Fa'afouina Residential House, these people are taught basic
living skills such as cooking, cleaning and hygiene. In a very real
sense, these clients are taught a new lifestyle.
The nature of their previous addictions and the fact they are accustomed
to lying and stealing in order to support their condition means that
these special clients must be closely supervised and monitored.
Referrals
Pacific Island Evaluation works closely with many other agencies
including the Courts, Child Youth & Family Services (C.Y.F.).
Pacific Island Evaluation Incorporated is known within the treatment
community for specialising in working with Pacific Island people. As
such, Pacific Island Evaluation liaises with other organisations and
receives referrals from them.
Similarly, Pacific Island Evaluation refers clients with special
treatment needs to specialised facilities such as Odyssey House in
Christchurch.
Pacific Island Evaluation also administers two other important services
- a residential house for recovering clients, interpreting and a client
advocacy service.
For agencies wishing to refer clients to our service, you may download a
copy of our referral form in the Resources section of
our website.
